In 2007, I read a great article in Harvard Business Review 2007: A Year of Management Ideas titled Lessons from Toyota’s Long Drive: A Conversation with Katsuaki Watanabe. The article said the following:
Watanabe aims to achieve his goals through a combination of kaizen (“continuous improvement”) and kakushin (“radical innovation”)
Those two words, Kaizen and Kakushin have forever stuck with me since then. The way that the concepts were interwoven with Toyota’s business philosophy fascinated me and I decided to incorporate kaizen and kakushin into my life and my ventures.
